Vol. 379 No. 7

Written Answers. - Drogheda (Louth) Hospital.

56.

asked the Minister for Health the names of those who would be responsible for the care of patients at the St. Mary's Cottage Hospital, Drogheda, County Louth, if he decides to discontinue finance for the hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Provision of hospital services in the Drogheda area is a matter for the North Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

St. Mary's Hospital, Drogheda, is a North Eastern Health Board hospital. The future role of the Drogheda Cottage Hospital in the overall provision of services is still under discussion between the health board, the hospital authorities and my Department. I am confident of an early conclusion to those discussions but, pending this, I am not in a position to say exactly what the outcome will be.
