Vol. 379 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Circuit Courts Facilities.

42.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has any proposals to improve the facilities in Dublin Circuit Courts numbers 14, 15 and 19; if his attention has been drawn to the problems being caused by the existing poor facilities, namely (1) no waiting rooms for witnesses, (2) no waiting rooms for victims of violent crimes, (3) no waiting rooms for jurors prior to their being called, (4) no rooms for solicitors and their counsel to consult with clients, (5) no proper holding cells for prisoners in custody, and (6) no proper toilet facilities available to men or women; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The points raised in this question are the subject of representations made to me by The Criminal Law Practitioners Association of the Bar of Ireland. As I said in reply to a Dáil question on 19 April, I am having these representations examined. I will write to the Deputy when the examination is complete.
