asked the Minister for Health the way in which income for providing accommodation for language students in the Gaeltacht areas will be assessed for householders concerned in relation to eligibility for medical cards.
Written Answers. - Medical Card Eligibility.
120.
Medical cards are given to persons who are unable, without undue hardship, to provide general practitioner medical and surgical services for themselves and their dependants. The decision on a person's eligibility to receive a medical card is a matter for the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board. In assessing a persons eligibility for a medical card income from all sources may be taken into account.
