asked the Minister for Education the way in which income for providing accommodation for language students in the Gaeltacht areas will be assessed for householders concerned in relation to eligibility for higher education grants.
Written Answers. - Education Grants Eligibility.
130.
The income to be assessed for the purpose of the award of a higher education grant at present is the gross income from all sources of the candidate and his-her parents, less any sum paid by way of contribution to a superannuation fund, and excluding also children's allowances under the Social Welfare Acts, holiday earnings of the candidate and payments under the family income supplement scheme. Therefore, income earned from providing accommodation to language students in the Gaeltacht areas must also be included in the gross income to be assessed for higher education grant purposes.
