Vol. 380 No. 4

Written Answers. - Unfinished Estates.

129.

asked the Minister for the Environment in relation to the 300 unfinished estates throughout the country recently identified by his Department, whether section 27 proceedings under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1976, were taken by the local authorities concerned; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Information compiled from the returns furnished recently by planning authorities in relation to unfinished estates indicates that proceedings under section 27 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1976 were initiated in about 50 cases; up-to-date information on the number of High Court Orders granted is not available. The returns also show that substantial other enforcement action was taken by the planning authorities under sections 31 and 35 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963 (enforcement notice procedure) and to a much lesser extent under section 24 of the 1963 Act and section 26 of the 1976 Act (warning notice procedure).
