Vol. 380 No. 4

Written Answers. - Limerick Hospital.

48.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of redeployment of medical staff at the former Barrington's Hospital, Limerick and of the future use to be made of that building.

The Deputy will be aware that joint medical appointments were a feature in Barrington's Hospital. The position in relation to the redeployment of the medical staff from that hospital is as follows:—

—Three consultants have transferred to St. John's Hospital and one to Limerick Regional.

—Four junior doctors have transferred to St. John's and two to Limerick Regional.

—Two junior doctors resigned and have taken up posts elsewhere.

—Of the three visiting doctors at the hospital two have resigned and one transferred to St. John's.

The future use of the building is a matter for the board of Governors of Barrington's and I understand they have put the premises up for sale by tender.
