Vol. 382 No. 1

Written Answers. - Integration of Teacher Colleges in Northern Ireland.

59.

andMr. Taylor asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government favour the integration of teacher colleges in Northern Ireland as a means of helping, understanding and developing a harmonious culture, a view expressed by over 2,000 Dubliners in a survey (details supplied); whether the Government have expressed, or are going to express, any views along these lines in the context of the Anglo-Irish Agreement; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The integration of teacher training colleges in Northern Ireland is primarily a matter for the trustees, staff and students of these colleges as well as for the education authorities. The matter has not been raised to date at the Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental conference.
