Vol. 382 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Wicklow Policing Arrangements.

72.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will make special arrangements for extra gardaí to be drafted into the Bray/Greystones/Enniskerry areas of County Wicklow, at weekends from June to September 1988, in view of the massive influx of people from Dublin and the recent widespread vandalism and destruction in the area.

The detailed policing arrangements for individual areas are a matter for the Garda authorities. I am informed by the Garda authorities that Garda resources available in this particular district, which covers Shankill, Bray, Enniskerry and Greystones, will be deployed so as to meet the needs of all areas as effectively as possible. In assessing these needs, the week-end influx of visitors during the summer months will be taken fully into account.
