asked the Minister for Social Welfare the estimated yield to the Exchequer if the upper limit of PRSI and levies were removed; and in particular, the amount which would be received from (a) employees (b) employers and (c) self-employed persons.

The estimated yield from abolition of the upper income limits applicable to the social insurance, occupational injuries, redundancy and health elements of PRSI in the 1989/90 contribution year is £110 million, made up of £37 million from employees, £61 million from employers and £12 million from the self-employed. No income ceiling applies to the employment and training levy.
