Vol. 384 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Kerry Harbours and Piers.

153.

asked the Minister for the Marine arising out of his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 102 of 9 November 1988, the reason he was not able to give certain information concerning an improvement scheme for Dingle Harbour, County Kerry (details supplied).

The details to which the Deputy refers were finalised and announced on Monday 14 November following discussion with Dingle Harbour Commissioners.

154.

asked the Minister for the Marine if he applied for a FEOGA grant for Dingle Harbour, County Kerry; and, if not, the reason.

158.

asked the Minister for the Marine if it was his Department which provided funds for Dingle Harbour, County Kerry; or if it was savings in other Departments; and, if so, if he will name those Departments.

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 154 and 158 together.

I did not apply for a FEOGA grant for Dingle Harbour, County Kerry, because development works at harbours are not eligible for assistance from that fund.

The costs of the development works at Dingle Harbour will be met from the Estimates allocations of the Department of the Marine and Roinn na Gaeltachta.

155.

asked the Minister for the Marine the amount of funds he has for improving Valentia Harbour, County Kerry.

I recently approved a 75 per cent grant amounting to £52,500 to Kerry County Council for urgent repair work at Renard Pier in Valentia Harbour out of the 1988 provision for fishery harbour works.

156.

asked the Minister for the Marine if he will improve the pier at Cromane, County Kerry.

The Office of Public Works have just completed a site survey at Cromane Point on my behalf and I hope to have a report on the survey shortly. I will then have a detailed structural plan for a new pier drawn up and costed.

157.

asked the Minister for the Marine if he has any moneys at his disposal for improving Ballydavid Harbour, County Kerry,

I have no immediate plans for improvement works at Ballydavid.
