Vol. 384 No. 5

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

68.

asked the Minister for Finance if there has been a delay on the part of the Revenue Commissioners in connection with redundancy payments to three employees of a company (details supplied) who retired on 29 February 1988.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that there has been no delay in their office in dealing with the tax affairs of the persons concerned. The delay has been occasioned by the failure of their former employer to furnish the necessary information to the Inspector of Taxes to enable him to calculate the increased deduction due to the employees referred to in respect of their lump sum payments.

The required information was received by the Inspector of Taxes on 26 October 1988 and he will now furnish details to the former employer of the amount of the increased deduction to be allowed against the balance of lump sum payments due to be paid.
