Vol. 384 No. 8

Written Answers. - Clondalkin (Dublin) Community Centre.

214.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to be fact that work on the community centre at Rowlagh, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 has been stopped for some time due to shortage of funds, although only three-quarters finished; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that, notwithstanding the very high rate of unemployment in the Rowlagh community, the people of the area have contributed £25,000 towards the cost of the community centre; if, in the circumstances, he will make a further grant available from national lottery funds so that the community centre can be completed and opened; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the difficulties being encountered in financing the completion of this towards which a grant of £60,000 was made available in 1986 under the amenity grants scheme. However, all the national lottery funds available to me in connection with the 1988 amenity grants scheme have already been allocated and, consequently, the allocation of a further grant is not possible.
