Vol. 384 No. 8

Written Answers. - Cork Accident and Emergency Services.

229.

asked the Minister for Health if he will outline his Department's plans for the reorganisation of the casualty services in the Cork area; if the units in the South Infirmary Hospital will remain with the present staff levels; and if the services at present in operation will be maintained.

The position remains as set out in my reply to the Deputy on 22 November, 1988 to Parliamentary Question No. 211.

Officials of my Department are examining the provision of accident and emergency services with representatives of the Southern Health Board and the two voluntary hospitals in Cork. The overall objective is to provide the best service possible within the resources available. Discussions are ongoing and no final decisions have been agreed.
