Vol. 386 No. 1

Written Answers. - Criminal Summons Service on Juvenile.

77.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the procedure for the serving of a criminal summons on a juvenile by the Garda Síochána; in particular, whether there is separate notification to the parents of that juvenile of the fact that a summons has been served; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The general procedures for the service of summonses are provided for in the District Court Rules, 1948, as amended by the District Court Rules (No. 1) 1962. Further provisions relating to summonses issued in cases involving children or young persons are contained in Summary Jurisdiction Rules, 1909, which were made under the Children Act, 1908.
