Vol. 386 No. 7

Written Answers. - Headford, County Galway, Sewerage Scheme.

36.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve capital allocations of £120,000 requested by Galway County Council to carry out urgent improvement works at Headford sewerage scheme, County Galway, which poses a major pollution threat to the waters of the Lough Corrib system.

As the capital cost of this scheme is in excess of the limit of £50,000 which applies to the small schemes programme, it is not possible to consider the proposal under this programme. The council have been advised to resubmit the scheme under the major schemes programme and to prepare the necessary preliminary report.
