Vol. 386 No. 8

Written Answers. - Utilisation of Patients' Moneys.

62.

asked the Minister for Health the amount of money held by each of the health boards on behalf of patients who have died intestate and who have no living relatives; the way in which the moneys should be utilised; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In any case where patients die intestate and with no ascertainable next-of-kin the Minister for Finance, under the terms of the Succession Act, 1965, is the ultimate intestate successor.

I have asked the health boards to extract, in so far as is possible, the information requested by the Deputy and I will communicate further with him at an early date.
