The concept of contracting out for hospital catering services is not new. A number of hospitals have contracts for catering as they may also have for cleaning, laundry services and maintenance.
In the context of this year's allocation I have asked all agencies to introduce measures to effect efficiency savings including measures involving contracting out of services where feasible. This matter is now being considered by the agencies.
