Vol. 386 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Dublin Road Accidents.

45.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of accidents which have occurred on the Upper Kilmacud Road, Kilmacud, County Dublin, between the roundabout and Dundrum village, in each of the last three years; whether these accidents involved mechanically propelled vehicles, bicycles or pedestrians; whether there are measures which can be undertaken to improve the safety of this road; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Detailed statistical information on road accidents is compiled by the Environmental Research Unit by reference to counties and county boroughs on the basis of reports by the Garda relating to individual accidents. This information is published annually in Road Accident Facts. Accident data concerning particular roads is not readily available.

Primary responsibility for the assessment of possible measures to improve safety on this road and for the execution and funding of such measures rests with Dublin County Council.
