asked the Minister for Health if he has satisfied himself that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 10 is not medically eligible for a disabled person's maintenance allowance, in view of that person's severe disabilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The determination of eligibility for disabled person's maintenance allowance in any individual case is a matter for the health board concerned. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the Chief Executive Officer, Eastern Health Board, with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry who is in receipt of unemployment assistance, has been refused assistance by the Southern Health Board to travel for medical treatment at the Mercy Hospital in Cork.

As the Deputy knows, the decision to grant or refuse financial assistance to persons attending hospitals for medical treatment is a matter for the health board concerned. I have referred the Deputy's question to the Southern Health Board for attention and direct communication.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry is being denied disabled persons maintenance allowance given that he has been in receipt of domiciliary allowance all his life.
