Vol. 389 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grand Canal Repair.

71.

asked the Minister for Finance the estimated cost of repairing the breach of the Grand Canal at Edenderry, County Offaly; the time scale for the work involved; and if this work is a priority.

The cost of reconstructing the breach and adjacent section of the Grand Canal at Edenderry, County Offaly, is provisionally estimated to be of the order of £850,000. Work on site has commenced and it is hoped to have that section of the canal reopened in time for the 1990 boating season. The project is being given top priority by the Office of Public Works.
