Vol. 389 No. 2

Written Answers. - Teagasc Statistics.

54.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food, since the formation of Teagasc the number of persons who have left the organisation; and the number who have accepted the Government's voluntary redundancy package.

80.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of staff in Teagasc who have been redeployed to other Departments; the number of staff left in Teagasc; the number of contracts drawn up with farmers by Teagasc staff for 1989; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 54 and 80 together.

From the establishment of Teagasc on 8 September 1988 to 17 April 1989 a total of 114 staff have left the organisation. Fifty-three of these have accepted the Government's voluntary early retirement scheme.

Since the introduction of the scheme for voluntary redeployment 57 Teagasc staff members have been redeployed to Government Departments. The current staffing level in Teagasc is 1,591.

The number of advisory contracts drawn up with farmers for delivery in 1989 is of the order of 30,000.
