Vol. 389 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tenant Purchase Schemes.

132.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he accepts that a grievous injustice is felt by tenant purchasers of local authority houses prior to the 1988 scheme who will now be sometimes paying as much as £25 to £35 per week more than their neighbours who purchased after 1988; if in the circumstances he will accept the 1974 precedent when the then Government agreed to write off the last quarter of the repayment years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

134.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider the cases of persons who commenced purchasing under the tenant purchasing scheme in 1983 but who now find that their repayments are far higher than that which tenant purchasers are being asked to pay under the 1987 tenant purchase scheme.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 132 and 134 together.

I would refer the Deputy to the replies to Questions No. 161 on 16 February 1988 and Nos. 71 to 75 on 16 March 1988.
