Vol. 390 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Lottery Allocations.

55.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give a breakdown of grant payments and commitments from national lottery funds in each county.

The allocation of national lottery funds for different purposes is decided by Government. Spending Ministers are responsible for the selection of individual projects within their own areas. Detailed questions about the issue of grants, including geographic distribution, should therefore be addressed to the Ministers concerned.

Within my area of responsibility, the following amounts were issued to the Office of Public Works in 1988, for the restoration of the following buildings, all in County Dublin:

Project

Amount

£

Custom House

1,000,000.00

Kilmainham Gaol

200,000.00

National Library

300,000.00

Casino, Marino

200,000.00

Church of the Most Holy Trinity (Dublin Castle)

100,000.00

1,800,000.00

As indicated in my reply to questions tabled in the Dáil on 2 May 1989, the Government have not yet finalised their consideration of lottery allocations for 1989 and I am not, therefore, in a position to make a statement on the details of these allocations.
