Vol. 390 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Roscommon Drainage Scheme.

66.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money provided for the Boyle/Bonet drainage scheme, County Roscommon in 1989; the number of people currently employed; if there will be additional employees' recruited in the present financial year; if short time will be introduced by the end of 1989; and the mileage of drainage envisaged to be carried out in 1989.

An amount of £2.173 million will be spent on construction works on the Boyle/Bonet drainage schemes in the current year. These schemes employ 105 workers at present and consideration is being given to the possibility of employing some casual labour during the summer months in the light of finance available. A total of 23 miles of scheduled channel will be drained. It is not envisaged that short time working will prove necessary.
