Under the farm improvement programme aid of 20 per cent for on-farm investments in storage facilities for animal wastes and silage effluent is available in the non-disadvantaged areas. Under the western package grants of 55 per cent are available for this purpose in the less favoured areas. A programme proposing the extension of this measure to the remainder of the country has been submitted to the EC Commission. The implementation of the programme, including its date of commencement, is awaiting the Commission's response. It is expected that the programme can be initiated in the near future.
