Vol. 391 No. 7

Written Answers. - Additional Classrooms.

72.

asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure the provision of four additional terrapin classrooms at a minimum for St. Ronan's primary school, Deansrath, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, having regard to the urgent need for these facilities, as highlighted by parents' protests over recent months; and if her attention has been drawn to the fact that failure to provide these additional classrooms will have the effect of dividing school-going families between two parishes.

As it is understood that there is sufficient national school accommodation available within a reasonable distance of Deansrath national school, there would not appear to be a need for additional permanent classrooms at Deansrath. However, in the light of some enrolment difficulties, my Department recently sanctioned two prefab classrooms for next September and this will give the school authorities adequate scope to adopt an enrolment policy in order to satisfy the demand for school places from prospective pupils who have older brothers and sisters in Deansrath national school.
