asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the need for immediate sanction to the Paulstown/Gowran/Goresbridge augmentation water scheme, County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I refer the Deputy to the reply to Question No. 103 of 16 November, 1988. The position remains unchanged.

285.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the need for sanction for Thomastown water supply scheme, County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Contract documents for the Thomastown water supply augmentation scheme have been submitted to my Department by Kilkenny County Council. The council have been asked to supply further technical information and a certificate confirming that all the preliminary arrangements are in order. When these are available the proposal will be further considered in the light of existing commitments on the sanitary services programme and the level of funds available.
