I am aware of the number of applicants included in their preliminary assessment by Kilkenny Corporation as being in need of local authority housing. The capital allocations made to individual housing authorities for their housing construction programme in 1989 had regard to the overall amount available under the Public Capital Programme and the competing demands of authorities. It is not possible to approve any additional new starts on the housing programme in 1989; the position in 1990 will depend on the funds provided in the Public Capital Programme for the year.
