Vol. 392 No. 1

Written Answers. - South-Eastern Health Board Funding.

295.

asked the Minister for Health if an allocation of funds over and above the original allocation for 1989 has been made to the South-Eastern Health Board; and, if so, the way in which the extra money will be spent.

On 18 July 1989 the Government approved the provision of an additional £15 million in 1989 for the health services to specifically address difficulties in the acute general hospital sector.

The South-Eastern Health Board has been allocated £835,000. This sum will be spent on the development of the acute hospital sector in the board's area including the reopening of beds, the provision of equipment, adaptation to and provision of additional theatre facilities and improvements in out-patient clinics.
