The Mid-Western Health Board has been in discussion with my Department about the acquisition of St. John of God's Hospital, Cahercalla for use as a psychiatric facility for County Clare and the purchase arrangements involved. The decision of the Mid-Western Health Board to improve the psychiatric service in County Clare is in keeping with the Department's policy for the development of psychiatric services as outlined in "Planning for the Future".
