asked the Minister for Education the total amount of moneys awarded by her Department to various clubs and organisations throughout the country from the proceeds of the national lottery in 1989 to date; if this represents an allocation of all the funds available from the proceeds of the national lottery in the current year; if she intends to make further allocations available to voluntary bodies between now and 31 December 1989; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Under the provision for Sport (current) from the proceeds of the national lottery at 30 September, 1989, a total of £1,747,600.20 was paid from the 1989 provision of £3 million. The balance will be expended by 31 December, 1989.
Under the VEC youth and sport schemes, a total of £1.7 million has been allocated to the Vocational Education Committees for 1988 for disbursal to sports clubs and youth organisations at local level.
Expenditure under the Youth (current) national lottery provision up to 30 September, 1989 was £5,269,862.67. The entire £8 million budget for 1989 will be allocated before 31 December, 1989.
£4 million was provided in 1988 for the Capital Grant Scheme for the provision of recreational facilities; no funding has been provided for this scheme in 1989.
