Vol. 392 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drainage Scheme.

37.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason maintenance work ceased on the Brickey river drainage scheme; and the steps which are being taken to prevent further deterioration of improvements carried out over the past 25 years.

As in the case of all drainage schemes undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, the Brickey catchment is inspected on a regular basis and maintenance work is carried out as and when required, having regard to the resources available. There are no plans to discontinue this practice. Indeed, it is intended to execute some necessary maintenance work in the Brickey catchment over the next few weeks.
