asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has and the time scale involved for the proper cleaning of the Dublin city stretch of the Royal Canal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Royal Canal Cleansing.

The proper cleaning of the Dublin city sections of the Royal Canal requires the use of water-based plant. In order to provide a sufficient depth of water for that purpose, all defective lockgates must first be renewed. A programme for this work is in hands and is expected to be completed in 1990. Dredging and cleaning of the various sections of the waterway will then be undertaken.
