Vol. 392 No. 1

Written Answers. - Natural History Museum Refurbishment Costs.

51.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in respect of the Natural History Museum, Merrion Street, Dublin 2, he will indicate the extent of the work being undertaken, the amount contributed towards the cost of repair and refurbishment by the national lottery and separately by his Department; when the work will be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Natural History Museum building has been electrically rewired and complete re-decoration is now nearing completion.

It was necessary to close the building to enable these extensive works to be completed. It will be ready for re-opening next month. The works have considerably enhanced the building.

The final cost of the work will be in the region of £225,000. £100,000 of this has been funded by the national lottery and the balance has come from Exchequer funds.
