To date in 1989 a sum of £4.403 million has been allocated to the Department of the Taoiseach, from the proceeds of the national lottery, for arts and culture projects. The details are given in Appendix I. As I indicated to the House on 29 November last, future lottery allocations for voluntary arts bodies will be distributed by the Arts Council.
A sum of £2.634 million has been approved to date in the current year by Roinn na Gaeltachta for Bord na Gaeilge and certain Irish language organisations throughout the country. The details are in Appendix II.
The question of the availability of additional lottery funds in 1989 and their allocation is at present under consideration.
