Vol. 392 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin School Language Unit.

182.

asked the Minister for Education the number of pupils currently attending the language unit in St. Patrick's national school, Drumcondra, Dublin 9; the number of applications received for enrolment in the current school year; the number of places being allocated to these; and the placements which are being allocated to the remaining children with language disorders.

The board of management of the school in question have notified my Department that there are 16 pupils enrolled in the two special classes for children with language and learning impairment and that eight applications have been received for enrolment in the current school year, three of which have been selected to fill vacancies that will arise shortly.

In relation to the remaining five applications my Department are currently investigating the case for allowing the establishment of an additional class.
