A series of one-day in-service courses is being provided for teachers in connection with the junior certificate programme. The first course was held last spring and the second will take place in the middle of this month. I intend to provide, in association with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, two/three days in-service courses during each of the next three school-years. They will be held in term-time rather than during the vacation period.
In addition to courses which deal specifically with the introduction of the junior certificate, general in-service courses for teachers of the junior cycle, which are conducted during vacation periods or at weekends throughout the school-year, are designed with the requirements of the new programme in view.
