asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the examinations and work being carried out by the Office of Public Works at Dún Laoghaire Garda Station, County Dublin are showing evidence of extensive dry rot and fungus; the solutions which are being considered by his Department to resolve this problem; when the necessary remedial works will be carried out; and the manner in which such works will be carried out.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 77 to 81, inclusive, together.

The examination currently nearing completion at Dún Laoghaire Garda Station is being carried out to determine its general structural condition. Pending completion of the examination, within the next week or so, I cannot accurately estimate the extent of the remedial works that will be necessary. On completion of the examination a decision will be taken on the question of the temporary or permanent relocation of the station. During the course of the examination of the station some members were re-located within the building. Throughout the examination every effort has been made to keep disturbance to the minimum and to ensure the safety and health of the occupants.
