Vol. 393 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Lottery Fund Allocations.

163.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of applications currently with his Department for allocations from national lottery funds; and when a decision will be made on these applications.

In 1989 the Government allocated £750,000 from national lottery funds for the scheme of grants to voluntary bodies in the social services area. These funds have been allocated to 100 organisations throughout the country.

In addition an allocation of £50,000 was made available from national lottery funds for a special pilot scheme of assistance to voluntary organisations providing opportunities for unemployed people to become involved in their activities.

Grants amounting to £46,437 have been approved under this heading for 43 voluntary organisations involved in community and social services activities. The remaining funds will be allocated as soon as possible.
