I propose to take Questions Nos. 185 and 187 together. The information sought concerning the number of traffic wardens employed by local authorities is set out hereunder and is gathered from returns furnished to my Department by local authorities. The figures shown are in respect of the year ended 31 December 1988, the most recent date for which information is available and include full-time and part-time wardens. The current wage scale applicable to traffic wardens — full-time — which is operative from 1 January 1989 ranges from £151.16 at the minimum to £161.15 at the maximum.
