A sum £460,000 has been allocated to my Department from the national lottery in 1989 for the promotion of cultural relations with other countries.
These funds are expended in part on activities under the cultural agreements which Ireland has with certain other countries; and in part by way of grants to various bodies and individuals who seek support for particular Irish cultural or artistic events abroad.
Some 131 such applications are on hand at present. Decisions on these applications will be made as soon as possible.
