Vol. 393 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tralee, Kerry, Nurse Training School.

35.

asked the Minister for Health if he has any plans for the future of the nurses training school in Tralee General Hospital, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Nurse Training School in Tralee General Hospital currently forms part of a Regional Nurse Training School operated by the Southern Health Board at Cork Regional Hospital and Tralee General Hospital.

A proposal to have the training school at Tralee recognised as an independent training school has been submitted by the Southern Health Board to An Bord Altranais and was considered by the board at its meeting on 9 November 1989. As part of its assessment of the application, the board has decided to carry out an inspection of Tralee General Hospital and pending the outcome of that assessment, no decision has been made on the application.
