Vol. 393 No. 2

Written Answers. - Police Clinics.

99.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in an effort to prevent crime, he has considered the setting up of police clinics, involving visits by members of the Garda Síochána attending at a room or office in a built up area, thereby making them available and accessible to the local community for the purposes of discussing problems.

Two Garda offices, or "clinics" of the type referred to in this question are already in operation at present — one in Donaghmede, Dublin and one in Mervue, Galway. These clinics provide a range of services to the public that are normally available at a Garda station. The Garda authorities inform me that they have no proposals at present to establish further clinics.
