Vol. 393 No. 10

Written Answers. - Dual Irish/US Citizenship Franchise.

86.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether a citizen of the United States who is also an Irish citizen by virtue of the fact that he was born in Ireland, is entitled to vote in Dáil elections, local elections and European elections while he is residing on a full time permanent basis in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter for the information of such Irish citizens who are also citizens of the United States.

All Irish citizens, irrespective of any other citizenship held by them, who are aged 18 years and over, and are ordinarily resident in this country on the qualifying date for a register of electors, are entitled to be registered as electors and to vote at all elections and referenda.
