Vol. 394 No. 3

Written Answers. - Nuclear Power Plant.

34.

asked the Minister for Energy the steps which have been taken by the Irish Government to express this country's opposition to the establishment of the proposed Wylfa B nuclear power plant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Central Electricity Generating Board have withdrawn their application for permission to build a new nuclear power plant at Wylfa. This is a welcome development.

Successive Ministers for Energy have made known directly to the Secretary of State for Energy our strong opposition to the expansion of the nuclear industry in the United Kingdom and with particular emphasis on west coast sites including Wylfa B.
