Vol. 394 No. 3

Written Answers. - Nuclear Power Stations.

36.

asked the Minister for Energy if, in view of the decision of the British Government not to include nuclear stations in their privatisation programme and the decision not to proceed with the plans for the building of the Sizewell B and Wylfa nuclear stations in November, he intends to raise again with the British authorities the position of Sellafield and seek its phasing out; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My predecessors have made, and I shall continue to make representations to the UK authorities urging that Sellafield be closed and that there be no expansion of the UK nuclear industry at Sellafield, or at any nuclear installation especially on their west coast.
