asked the Minister for the Environment if, arising from the intervention of the Ombudsman as outlined in a report (details supplied) which claimed that a County Louth householder who was in occupation of his house before the cut-off date for the mortgage subsidy of £3,000 but who had not applied for the subsidy before the deadline, has now been granted the mortgage subsidy; and if, in view of this, he will grant the mortgage subsidy and other grants to persons (details supplied) in County Sligo who are in a similar situation.
The report referred to was inaccurate and misleading; in the individual case concerned it was accepted that a valid application had been made before the closing date. There is no record of the receipt of an application for a mortgage subsidy from the person named at the address given.
