Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Car Emissions.

Roger T. Garland

Ceist:

392 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on the fact that there is a far greater danger to public health from car emissions in Dublin city than from smog.

There is no scientific evidence to show that the level of car emissions in Dublin city presents a significant danger to public health.

I am, however, concerned to ensure that atmospheric pollution in all its forms should be kept to a minimum for the protection of public health and I welcome the measures being taken by the Minister for the Environment in this regard.
