Written Answers. - Drogheda (Louth) Library Facilities.

Ceist:

125 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in providing finance for a new library for Drogheda, County Louth; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a site was sold to Louth County Council by Drogheda Corporation for £10,000 ten years ago; if his attention has been further drawn to the condition of the existing library, the site for which could be used for some other purpose; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Proposals for a new library in Drogheda were submitted by Louth County Council in August 1988. However the council have subsequently been considering alternative proposals with regard to library facilities in Drogheda and County Louth generally and further developments in that regard are awaited. The question of delay in providing finance does not arise in this case.
