Vol. 398 No. 4

Written Answers. - UK Pension Holders.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

134 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health if the Department of Health and Social Security in the United Kingdom makes available, on an annual basis, a sum of money for United Kingdom pension holders domiciled in this country; and the amount of this sum in 1990.

Under the regulations of the European Community, member states are entitled to recover the cost of medical services provided for nationals of other member states while visiting or domiciled in the host member state. It is estimated that under the regulations a net amount of £34 million approximately will be payable by the United Kingdom to Ireland in 1990.
